Accessible Signage

A growing favorite for indoor signage, the design of ED&A signs provides the background and lettering together in layers. Our system creates raised-letter signage capable of complying with all ADA tactile standards and codes, which also require contrasting colors between lettering and the background field. All of our signs are made of solid materials, creating a durable, scratch resilient and fully compliant sign. 1/32” solid piece raised lettering is superior to photopolymer, stamped, or screened on lettering that is offered on cheap-quality signs. While resistant to scratches, if the solid piece on an ED&A sign were to be scratched, it would hardly be detectable, showing only the same color of material. This feature deters and limits vandalism. We use the RasterTM Method of Braille on our signs which is fully ADA compliant, vandal resistant, and superior in readability. We have a variety of colors available for custom orders. Here is an example of one of our signs:

A photopolymer or screened sign is more susceptible to scratches, and it reveals the base layer under the screened on color. Also these signs deteriorate quickly with extended use and the color of the screening fades and or wears off over time, leaving you with signage that is unreadable and inaccessible. These can be liabilities to you and lead to an undesirable appearance in your facilities. Notice also the difference in Braille between the Raster TM beads and the stamped method used on a less expensive sign. Here is an example of a worn and vandalized sign:

We are here to help you. For a brighter, more resilient, and more compliant, sign that creates lasting value and appearance in your facilities for years to come, depend on ED&A as your accessible sign source!
